I am trying to post stuff this week but can’t seem to find time. It seems to be getting busier around here by the week.
Of course, this is the last week of prep before the recording studio next week and we are frantically trying to get everything together. I would love to say that we always had everything done way ahead of time and were ultra-prepared but that would be a lie. I wish it was different but I long ago figured out that this is just the way it is always going to be. There is little to be gained by sweating it.
I am going to do something today that might be a bad idea: post a very rough midi mockup of one the songs I am recording next week. This is the kind of thing I have to listen to carefully to make sure everything is right: no misplaced notes, wrong chords, etc.
The mp3 below is a combination of a midi-generated orchestration from Finale that is sort of synced against my rough recording. You have to use your imagination with this because it is so rough. There are no dynamics in here at all and the midi does not quite match my rubato. It is however enough for me to hear what I need to hear.
I am also including the chart I will have in the studio. In this particular chart, I wrote out most of the piano part because this is an adaption of a piano-only arrangement that is available for free download on this site.
This is a string and woodwind orchestration.
