I often hear from people asking for permission to use my music in their various videos, presentations, or events. To help me and those of you that wonder, I thought I would write out my thoughts on that as a blog post that I can link to and direct people to when they ask.
Basically, my policy is very liberal. You are free to use my music in almost any way you want if you are using it for personal or church use.
FREE USES:
* Missionary presentations
* Videos you do for various personal or church purposes
* Funerals or weddings
* Prelude music in your church
* Any other project that you do not plan on selling
You don’t even have to ask me first, but I always appreciate you letting me know.
If you want to use my music for projects that you plan on selling such as movies, contact me. Likely, I will still let you use it for free.
If you play my arrangements on your commercial CD/recordings, please contact me for mechanical licensing. The standard rate is 9.1 cents/copy. So, if you duplicate 1000 CDs, you would owe $91.
There are a few things that I would obviously not want anyone to do. For example, ripping my CDs and then giving them away for free on your website would not make me excited. Using my music in a production that reflects non-Christian values would be another problem.
